What We Do > Our Sectors and Practices

Economic and Public Financial Management

A sound financial sector is critical for long term sustainable economic growth and providing efficient mechanisms for improved services especially for the poor. Transparent, equitable and accountable expenditure, effective economic policies and monitoring systems provide a platform for governments to deliver a strong enabling environment for effective public services.

We work with governments, bilateral and multilateral organisations for developing efficient systems and ensuring accountability in management of this limited public resource. Our specialised team of professionals work in all aspects of the EPFM cycle, helping to reinforce economic and financial management through fiscal discipline and financial integrity. From financial planning to resource allocation, monitoring and analysis, we are there at every step of the way to help governments and agencies ensure that public resources are used effectively and reach the intended beneficiaries. Using various tools, namely, Medium Term Expenditure Framework, Public Expenditure Reviews, Regular Financial Monitoring, Feasibility Studies, Public Expenditure Tracking Studies, Budgeting and Accounting Systems and Maintenance of Financial Records, we work to strengthen public finances.

  • DFID: Design and Implementation of Bihar Health Sector Reform Strategy – Sector Wide Approach to Strengthen Health (SWASTH), in Bihar, India (2009-2016)

The objective of SWASTH is to design and implement cutting-edge reforms for the health, nutrition and WASH sector in Bihar, to bring about lasting changes in the health and nutritional status of the people, particularly the poorest and socio-economically marginalised. The project includes preparation of the respective sector plans for the Government of Bihar and providing implementation support, particularly the reform programme. We, through our Technical Assistance Support Team (TAST), are working with the departments of Health, Social Welfare and Public Health Engineering to assist the Government of Bihar in providing preventive and curative health services to the people, and improving its procurement systems and implementation arrangements. The underlying key objective is to build skills and capacity of these departments so that they are able to sustain the efforts beyond the life of SWASTH.
