Web-enabled GIS based Property Tax System in Ethiopia

For the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (MUDH) in Ethiopia, IPE Global is implementing a ‘Web-enabled GIS based Property Tax System for Ethiopia’, in consortium with SPARC, lead firm for this project. The project aims to improve the prevalent property tax system in the country through enhanced system efficiency, transparency, public dissemination of property tax information, provisioning of web based property tax services to the general public, efficient property tax Decision Support System (DSS) to facilitate geo-spatially aware, in-time decision making etc. The proposed Web-enabled GIS based Property Tax System is envisaged to serve the ‘Property Market Study Processing Property Assessment, Property Valuation, Property Taxation, Report Generation as well as Management of Demand Valuation such as Court Cases, Mortgages etc. The system shall be implemented in the MUDH and three pilot cities, namely Bahir Dar, Mekele and Dire Dawa.
